Jonathan Berger is an advocate at the Johannesburg Bar. He has worked as a legal researcher for the AIDS Law Project, its successor SECTION27, and the National Coalition for Gay and Lesbian Equality, and clerked for Justice Kate O’Regan at the Constitutional Court.
Jonathan served as a member of the Medicines Control Council from 2009 to 2011, and the Technical Advisory Group to the UNDP Global Commission on HIV and the Law from 2010 to 2012. He is currently a member of the board of Health-e News Service, and the Expert Advisory Group to the Geneva-based Medicines Patent Pool.
He holds degrees in architecture and law, has an unhealthy interest in US politics, cooking shows, and the perfect crème brûlée, and once ran a sub-four hour marathon. In 2013, he was the recipient of his running club’s award for the last member home at Comrades. He has since retired from that race.
