The 2014 football World Cup kicks off on Thursday, and in anticipation of the opening game between Brazil and Croatia, The Con has decided to bring you some songs that have been recorded to urge on the five African teams competing, namely Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Algeria and Ivory Coast. Alongside the video for every African team at Brazil 2014, is a poster for each African team designed by Brazilian artist Cristiano Siqueira for ESPN.
Ghana: The Black Stars
First up, Ghanaian singer Wiyaala has recorded a song for the Black Stars titled Go Go Black Stars… Goal! Ghana open their campaign in Group G with a clash against the USA on Monday June 16.
Cameroon: The Indomitable Lions
Cameroonian group The 4 have released a song titled Venez Célébrer, which means “come celebrate”, to support the Indomitable Lions. Cameroon open their campaign in Group A with a clash against Mexico on Friday June 13.
Nigeria: The Super Eagles
Nigeria’s Olamide has teamed up with Nigerian-American rapper Wale (whose parents are Yoruba) to record Make Us Proud. Nigeria open their campaign in Group F with a clash against Iran on Monday June 16.

Algeria: The Fennec Foxes
The Con found this video online titled Fiesta, which was put together by TehFaStudio in support of the Fennec Foxes. Algeria open their campaign in Group H with a clash against Belgium on Tuesday June 17.
Ivory Coast: The Elephants
There doesn’t appear to be any songs on YouTube for the Elephants, but The Con found this clip of Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba singing a song from Ivory Coast back in 2010 when they were both still at Chelsea. Ivory Coast open their campaign in Group C with a clash against Japan on Saturday June 14.
