About Meghan Healy-Clancy
Meghan Healy-Clancy is a social and cultural historian of modern Africa, with a focus on the politics of gender in southern Africa. She is based in the Committee on Degrees in History and Literature at Harvard University, where she teaches courses on gender, colonialism, and development. Her first book, A World of Their Own: A History of South African Women’s History, was published earlier this year with the University of KwaZulu-Natal Press, and an American edition is forthcoming in the University of Virginia Press’ Reconsiderations in Southern African History series in 2014. She is now at work on a new project about the role of changing ideals and practices of family in the making of African nationalist politics in South Africa.
